If I could design my dream business it would be a family restaurant. I love to cook, pay attention to details, can teach others, and have three children which helps me to understand what families want and need in a restaurant. I would design it to have a game room where kids can eat, drink, and roam freely, a pub-style dining room for relaxed family dining, a room with upscale seating and a bar for special occasions, and a patio with outside games and an area for live music. Ideally, I would like to have the freedom to spend most nights with my family and run the restaurant during the day. This would mean I would need a night manager and a fully trained staff to continue operations when I wouldnt be there. I would have no intention of opening more locations but would like the restaurant to operate smoothly and professionally. Originally, I thought I would operate as a single-member LLC but considering that I still want to be able to have my restaurant run smoothly when I am not there plus the size of staff I would require, I think it would be beneficial to find a partner and run as a partnership LLC. This would allow me to share the responsibilities, resources, and losses with someone plus I could still spend quality time with my family. It would require a split of profits but also reduce tax liability because income is reported separately in the schedule E of each tax return and eliminates double taxation.
