Directions:
Create a research project that you could conduct, if you hadan unlimited budget with which to work. Â Â
Tasks:
1.Discuss the topic coping with the death of anotherperson
2.Create a question to which you would be interested indiscovering an answer.
3.Select one of the three classic developmental designs, either a cross-sectional design, a longitudinal design, or asequential design, that you would use to conduct your research. Â
4.State who you would have as participants in yourstudy.
5.State what you would ask the participants in your study todo.
Sample of good work:
One area of interest in the field of death and bereavement isthat of counseling the bereaved. I would be interested to know ifdifferent techniques are more beneficial than others, for helpingthose who are bereaved. Using a longitudinal design, I would beinterested to see if 600 adults would have better outcomes afterone year, when given different techniques to cope with theirlosses. I would randomly divide the adults into three groups. Onegroup would receive one hour of listening to classical music, onegroup would receive one hour spending time with an animal, like adog or a cat, and the third group would receive counseling asusual. The participants would be asked to complete a questionnairebefore the study began, and at the end of the study. The groupswould be compared to each other at the end of the study to seewhich group had the best outcomes. The participants could also becompared to themselves, pre test and post test, to measureoutcomes. Â Â
