Given that Xerox developed the concept of competitivebenchmarking in the early 1980s and it is still around today, itappears that the concept is here to stay. It is especially usefulto companies which are falling behind others in the industry. Xeroxdeveloped the concept when management realized that Japanesecompanies were slowly taking over the copier market by making andselling products superior to those of Xerox at a cheaper price.Since this is a situation which is bound to affect variouscompanies in the future, benchmarking is bound to be increasinglyadopted. Do you agree?
