If I had to conductthe sample survey for the toothpaste between brand A and brand B, Iwould obtain enough product of both brand A and brand B. I wouldthen select the 100 people to conduct the survey randomly andselect the participants at random. It would be easier to findparticipants if the survey was paid for but if not I would send outthe survey until I got the 100 participants. The ethicalimplications of using only the employees of the product that wasbeing surveyed is that the results would not be accurate. Peoplethat work for brand A could be said that they would only vote forbrand A so they can keep their jobs. This would not give anaccurate assessment.

For the second part ofthe survey if I conducted the random sampling and found that 35/100prefer brand A, the manufacturer could not say their claim wastrue. The 35 is too far out of the range of 40 to be consideredwithin the standard deviation. If the sample of 100 only found 25who preferred brand A the ad should not be run either. They couldpossibly run the test two or more times to see if that outcome wasan anomaly, assuming that the other two sampling trials met the 40out of 100 claim that they previously stated.
