It is holiday season at the Variable family house and you (theresearcher) have been invited to dinner to celebrate.
You arrive to dinner and see that five members of the Variablefamily are there:
Dependent,
Independent,
Control,
Extraneous, and
Moderator.
Being the great researcher that you are, you spend much of yourtime at dinner observing the interactions among the members of theVariable family. When you get home, your friend calls and asks youabout your evening.
Your task is to describe each member of the Variable family toyour friend: who they are, how they are related, and how theyinteract with each other. As the researcher, you too can have animpact on how the members of the Variable family interact... youwere at dinner after all. You should also tell your friend how yourinteractions with some members of the family impacted the others(hint: what happens to Dependent if you manipulateIndependent).
