McDonald's is one of the largest distributors of toys, which isincluded in 20% of their sales. McDonald's targets children through Ronald McDonald andthe kids play areas as well, making it a fun environment. In 2010McDonald's was sued for unethical marketing practices towardschildren through the act of providing those toys. Monet Parham cameforth to sue McDonald's because her daughters would nag and cry forthe Happy Meals constantly even when told no, she claimed thatMcDonald's had invaded their minds through their deceptivemarketing. Complaints that McDonald's influences unhealthy eatinghabits through their advertisements and exploits young children hasrisen with the toy claim. A law in two cities of California haspassed saying that any establishments that does not meetnutritional value will not be allowed to serve toys with the meals.Today the Happy Meal is still in place and the practices arecontinuing to attract children to their establishments.
