Mesalamine is an Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug NSAIDs which reduces the production of inflammatory prostaglandins from arachidonic acid by blocking the cyclooxygenase enzyme and hence controls the symptoms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease like Ulcerative colitis
