Nephritis is a condition in which the kidney becomes inflameddue to an infection, an allergic reaction to medication or anautoimmune response. There are two types of neprhitis:
glomerulonephritis – where the glomeruli become damaged byinflammation, and
tubulointerstitial or interstitial nephritis – where the tubulesare damaged by inflammation.
In both cases, normal renal (nephron) function iscompromised.
1. First, explain how the nephrons of the kidney normallyfunction to adjust the composition of the blood and produce urinein a healthy kidney. To do this, be sure to do the following:
- Give the main purpose for each part of the nephron
- List the specific substances are being added and removed alongthe way via either filtration, reabsorption or secretion. Bespecific.
