In your explanation, you should consider the severity andnature of the punishment, the age of child, the seriousness andnature of the child’s behavior, the possible consequences of theparental action, and the frequency of the punishment (a punishmentwhich occurs once may be OK, but the same punishment may be harmfulif repeated.)

2. Slapping a 12-year-old in the face for backtalk.
3. Spanking a 2-year-old with a hand when he refused to eat whatmom cooked.
4. Putting a 5-year-old in time out for 20 minutes after she hither brother.
5. Repeatedly calling your 14-year-old daughter a “stupid slut”after she was caught in the backseat of a car with a boy’s hand upher shirt.
6. Kicking your 16-year-old son out of the house when he flunksout of high school and refuses to get a job.
7. Hitting a 9-month-old’s hand each time she throws a toy onthe floor.
8. Locking a 3-year-old in his room for 4 hours because he washaving a tantrum.
9. Calling your 13-year-old child lazy and useless in front ofhis friends after he refuses to mow the lawn.
10. Banning your 15-year-old son from family events because his“gay appearance” embarrasses you.
11. Hitting your 11-year-old daughter with a belt because shelied about where she went after school.
12. Forcing your 8-year-old son to stand naked under a very coldshower after he broke a wineglass because he was playing with aball in the house after being told not to.
13. Withholding food from a child each time she comes home latefrom school. After catching him stealing money from your purse, youhit your son hard enough to leave a bruise. Be sure to providesupporting sources for your responses.
