Macy’s, a multi-billion dollar company, has announced plans torestructure in order to stay afloat. Part of that restructure waslaying off 4 thousand employees, an overwhelming task for HR.Whether you were getting laid off or moving forward with thecompany, every single employee had to be contacted. That was a lotof phone calls involving manual work for the HR department. In thefuture there should be an automated function for these tasks,howeverThey have made plans to completely restructure how they selland these plans will begin taking effect in July. I am a shoeexpeditor and our jobs will be changing. The shoe departments willbe open-sell (help yourself) systems where we will get less hours.In my opinion, it opens the department up to more theft, as peoplealready ‘try on’ shoes and swap out the new shoes with their oldones when employees are not looking. It could be a recipe fordisaster.
