While this chapter discussed the many benefits of diversity, analternative view suggests that no empirical evidence exists to showthat a diverse workforce has a positive effect on organizationalperformance, employee commitment, and employee satisfaction. Infact, anecdotal evidence indicates that diversity can negativelyaffect business performance because of the possibility for internalconflict, dissension, and turnover. What is your reaction to thisperspective in light of the content of this chapter? Do thesearguments have merit? Why or why not?
